Two of Spain’s most iconic football venues — Spotify Camp Nou and Santiago Bernabéu Stadium — are reportedly in a direct race to host the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The historic tournament, which will mark 100 years since the first World Cup in 1930, will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with special centenary matches scheduled in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.
Both Spanish stadiums have undergone major redevelopment projects in recent years. The newly renovated Santiago Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid, features a state-of-the-art retractable roof and modernized facilities. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou is currently undergoing a massive reconstruction under the “Espai Barça” project, which will significantly expand its capacity and modern infrastructure.
Football authorities are expected to evaluate several factors before selecting the final venue, including stadium capacity, logistics, infrastructure, and global accessibility.
The final decision on the host stadium for the 2030 World Cup final is expected to be announced closer to the tournament as preparations continue across the host nations.
